SA Master Class summary

The first of the PIARN Master Class sessions was held in South Australia from 21-23 November 2011.

Twenty young leaders from across the primary industries, representing research, policy, business and industry, travelled first to the Barossa Valley and then onto Port Lincoln in the Eyre Peninsula.

Participants were presented with the opportunity to learn from leading researchers in their fields as well as see the latest science put into practice in the paddock. With the three-day event based around a theme of 'climate change adaptation in a water constrained world', the group visited industrial-scale wine makers in the Barossa and innovative farmers from near Cleve and Cummins, SA.

The event was a chance to build the participants' understanding of climate change adaptation research and implementation, and also to help close the gap between researchers, policy makers, funding organisations and producers.

A number of key climate change adaptation researchers and leading local figures attended on the second day in Port Lincoln.
